Gus' middle option (beer) is remarkably sensible.

I've got on a few Field of Glory matches, a big East Prussia '14 campaign with Cyrano as my buddy vs the Pride of the German military represented by Panzerde.

If I get any spare time. I'll be continuing my Zhou campaign in Oriental Empires/start another as I'm a bit wiser about the game now, and maybe a bit of Combat Mission as I've nearly finished my Invasion campaign for Combat Mission Afghanistan, which has been a fairly consistent set of failures for my Heroes of the Soviet Union.

One of the wonders of the Big Armored car is that all the Germans know that in usual driving mode, the player/driver's head is sticking out and there's a small chance of killing the player/driver with your basic ordinary bullets.  However, I've only been killed like that once (at a range of about 2 meters before I figured out my face wasn't behind any armor when I drove in 3rd person) and its the same story as with the classic old Red Orchestra Russian AC:  just don't drive directly at the incoming fire and you will be okay almost all the time.
BUT this means almost all the Germans lurking in range will open up on me as soon as I drive into view.  It's recon with a vengeance since they give away their positions and the local Russians kill them pretty fast.  This also works for recon versus armor -- though having tanks shooting at you from all over can turn out badly occasionally.  But in Heroes and Generals, once you are well-spotted or even roughly localized (in the case of big tanks), somebody is going to blow you up.

  Changed things a bit:  now using only one pouch of SVT ammo and 2 grenades instead of binoculars.  Oddly, when I quit using binoculars to get a feel for the situation I started running over the enemy more often and my overall kills went way up.  I guess in this game recon by running over the enemy beats visual recon most of the time.  Of course I'm not getting any kills with grenades lately.

  Now playing the updated MECampaigns!  Looks great!  and in H&G -- back to the infantry, I think.  Working on the SVT which is what I get most of my kills with anyway and I can drive the motorcycle or the truck with 4 Maxim AA MGs if I feel the need for some excitement.

having played the same parameters in airland battle for........ checks steam.......... 120 hours now, i changed it up and it was a joy to behold - bigger map, more points, bigger goals and oddly enough it actually stretched out the game beyond a dirty knife fight on the edge of a forest for 40 seconds, my one game so far lasted an hour, the front changed hands a couple of times, never felt overwhelmed with the action - going back now to do some deck tweaking - i wish the UK had anti tank helicopters
