Seems to be based on the old tabletop RPG (which had a digital version long ago).

It absolutely is.  The Space 1889 media franchise has been around about 25 years and has a ton of hardcore adherents.

I remember there was a Kickstarter for a new edition of the TT RPG.
Wonder when someone will bother making a brand new computer RPG based on the franchise, it could be pretty great.
