I CANNOT believe the AI would do something that dumb!

I'll report it at OOTP - though I think something like this would be obvious to hardcore gamers and therefore be reported anyway

It does seem odd that it would waive an ace pitcher in a case like that.

I'm struggling to think of a situation where I would have put that pitsher on the waivers.

Is it possible he was injured, went on DL, came off DL and I did nothing - so he automatically went on waivers?

I mean, I know so little about this very deep game (and the game and rules of baseball in rl) - so I'm wondering if I did something that would mean this player sat on the waivers list

youre playing the deepest baseball management sim known to man, but dont know the rules - what satisfaction do you get from the game? like i said, i dont want anyone to get defensive im not having a go at the game or the sport - im just wondering.

i know nothing of the sport, but recently watched 'moneyball (sp?)' and loved it, especially the actual story of the maths involved, as opposed to the players - great concept

I actually get a load of enjoyment from it UCG. Though I do find not knowing the rules both prohibitive and sometimes annoying. But I have the knowledge that there are hardcore baseball gamers who understand and follow the actual game but don't get alot of the rules behind the game itself...and that comforts me.

I hadn't played in a while and I had read about DL before - but just forgot - such is my memory.

Things like the draft coming up - I have no idea what's involved, but I intend to read up on the draft before it hits.

I guess it's not too different to be commander of the Pacific Fleet and it's forces...not knowing everything you need to know but "muddling" through...some of the enjoyment is muddling through.

I can't really put it into words...there's enjoyment there...but so little of the game is hands on for me, I kind of see your point...all I know is I enjoy watching the scores come in as I watch baseball on ESPN America. I know the rules of "the game" - as in how it's played, strikes, walks, hits, RBI's...but there's still lots of the stats info I don't really get. But it's a learning process by playing. for example next time I have to take someone off the DL, I know to move someone off the Active Roster :)

I enjoy the game and I enjoy learning it. My knowledge of baseball whilst very little just now is 100 times better than it was a year ago. I watch it on the TV and I play this. When I'm stuck or I have something specific (like the drafts) coming up, I go looking on wiki and the game help files.

I do believe what happened was a bug and not something I was unaware I did - I do not recall putting that pitcher on waiver...so I do believe the AI did it. Though had I a better understanding of what was going on, I could've prevented it by creating space. Like I said - I won't be doing that again.

I've actually become a huge fan of Baseball and look forward to the matches on ESPN...which, by the way, go on for 2 or 3 hours.

many moons ago i want to see a Yankees match whilst visiting NY as part of the honeymoon - we sat, we watched, we let after 2 hours, shopped, walked, ate in little italy, went to the top of the empire State building and decided to walk back to the hotel, stopped in a bar on way back for a drink - match still on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of people would argue that many major league general managers have less of an idea of how baseball works than you do, JD... ;D

It's my understanding that while a player is on the 60 day disabled list, he's not counted against the 40 man roster limit.  That may have been a factor when you tried to bring that particular player back from the DL.
