Man, I work from home for 1 day and all hell breaks loose. This all started yesterday:

QuoteA graduate student at the university emailed CBC to say the attackers have asked for payment in bitcoin, a digital currency that is difficult to trace. According to a message he saw on a school computer, the attackers are asking for either two bitcoin per machine, or 39 bitcoin total to release the encrypted files — the latter equalling nearly $38,941 at today's rate on the popular Bitcoin exchange Coinbase.

Now, the physics department, where I work, is on it's own network and email servers so we're not directly affected which is good. But it means we're told not to electronically communicate with the rest of the University until they get this figured out.....

So basically the physics department is the Battlestar Galactica of Carleton?

I'd Frak that. If she didn't crush my skull afterward.  Still might be worth it.
