Eyeing Strategic Command, but I wasn't that impressed with the demo of the previous title, has there been a lot of improvement to the series?

Yes, a major improvement: it moved off Battlefront and onto Matrixlitherine as a distributor.  >:D

lol, that's a big plus.. did the previous versions have Combat Mission style DRM?

Pretty sure yep. (I own at least one of them, I think the WW1 version which also comes with a WW2 mod -- not sure I've ever activated it.)

Also, Matrix released it on Steam, so you can get auto updates if you go that route.
