'tis true.  It was also the case with the little Kingston class 'vessels' out there (their bofors guns were pretty old).

To be fair, this problem is not just with the Canadian military. Recent news about the Bundeswehr which should be more troubling.

No, no.  They're just going retro.  We switched back to old timey British rank insignia on our uniforms.  Cannibalizing parts from museums and decommissioned US Navy ships is just like antiquing.  Canada is now the hipster douchebag of NATO.  We'll fight but we'll do it ironically.  I half expect our recce units will start patrolling in Schwinn 3-doped bikes with sparkly banana seats.
