I found that i can get in two or three UAD turns while I wait on SE to process a turn.
Wow, my SE turns process in about 30 seconds.

I've been interested in Dreadnaughts for quite a while but i'm more of a strategy layer guy and I've heard the campaign isn't very good.

This is what I am talking about. This is an AI generated ship for a US 1900 campaign start. Just a little bit on the squished side...I can't help but think.

The other game in the genre is Rule the Waves 3. RTW3 has the best campaign IMHO. However, it is very flat 2d, and has a spreadsheet interface. The UI looks like an indie game from the 20th century. However, that being said, I find RTW3 is a great game, and very engaging. The thing I really like about RTW3 is that it covers airpower and the development of aircraft carriers, while UA:D conveniently ignores this aspect of naval combat.

But UA:D has the most engaging battles, graphics and immersion. The UA:D campaign has some issues IMHO (the same could be said for RTW3), but there is still a campaign that counts, is playable and fun.

And that is the boil down of the difference...  If you want battles with an OK campaign to hang them off of....UA:D. If you want a campaign, and battles are just part of the mix...RTW3.

I'm likely to pick up UAD the next time it's 50% off, now that the reviews have improved. RTW3 is the reason for my interest. I'm surprised by how much I've enjoyed it. Fairly confident low-fi graphics + strong campaign are going to win over pretty with middling campaign (for me).

I already have RTW 3 and enjoy it.  But I've wanted a game that lets me watch parts blowing off a ship when I hit it ever since I played Task Force 1942.

The Storm Eagles games were decent for this.

And I would have bought them if it wasn't for their DRM.
