Been awhile since I played this, but I recently returned to it and have put a few hours in over the last several days. The sleeper hit for me is the zombie skirmish mode. Yes, you read that right, they have a PvE zombie skirmish mode where you have to hold a city and evacuate civilians during an increasingly more virulent zombie outbreak. I thought this was really stupid and predictable when I heard about it, but I'm actually really enjoying it.

The mechanics of the different types of zombies and the objective to rescue trapped civilians has encouraged me to finally play around with the deck builder in order to learn those systems and experiment with the right mix of units. I've put together a battle group that has highly mobile, heavily armed special forces, with a core of Rangers and supplemented by Delta, Green Berets and Pararescue. There a couple platoons of heavy armor and Bradley IFV to hold intersections and provide covering fire. Finally, I've added a lot of helicopter support for transport and CAS, which includes blackhawks, little birds and Comanches. I also have an AC-130 for fire support.

The helos and highly mobile SF units are a great combo for zipping around the battlefield and getting forces where they need to be to evacuate the civies and then to pull them out quickly. It's proven to be a highly successful BG for this game mode, which has been rewarding and fun.

In any event, if you have the game, but like me, haven't played in awhile, check it out!

That actually does sound interesting.

I got the game with matrix annual coupon and messed around with it.  It seems heavily focused on pvp matches and got alot of grief from the pvp'rs about hackers and match leavers ruining their experience.  Me personally, I can't see why you'd want to be an rts pvp sweat, so I didn't really care about the pvp.  I was hoping for more pve content like warno.  Glad they are finally getting around to that.

Is there a simple player vs ai skirmish mode yet

Me, my deck against whatever the game wants to pick, 1 v 1?

Interestingly the Broken Arrow link at Slitherine takes you to it's own unique Broken Arrow store page now. You cannot add it to your cart on the main site at all! I want to say I had it on my wishlist at one time.

I grabbed it on the recent sale and have been having a ball. But I do agree it sounds like they are struggling to come up to speed with Eugen's 12 years of engine development before pumping content out.
I have started campaign missions more than once that are very lengthy only to have to quit to desktop and start again fresh next time. Because no save game feature exists yet.

I just love that I am playing with units that Eugen would never bring out. There is still so much scope for expansion because they are modern to post modern units.

I was surprised Slitherine published this game. Seems they were on a winner because generally Broken Arrow has three times the active player base.

Can I ask if the separate store page was always the case, you cannot quite remember if you had it on your slitherine website  wishlist? I purchased mine in steam.

I do know I have had Broken Arrow on my wishlist. I'm pretty sure I did not remove it but the fact I've had it on my wishlist shows it had a normal page on the Slitherine site at one point. The cart and checkout process does have a spot for coupon codes so I assume anniversary codes would work. You'd only be able to purchase broken Arrow with the code though. I spent my 2026 code on DLC for ICBM, Shadow Empire, and Warhammer Gladius.
