Vets and PTSD

I read the article linked below and wondered, as there are veterans on this site and everyone seems to know someone who served, two things. 1) How prevalent do you think PTSD is, based on your experience?  2) Do you think this man's blog is helping or hurting?

My personal opinion is that every combat veteran has PTSD to a greater or lesser degree. I feel the man's blog is helpful as it not only clarifies what PTSD is, but it also encourages those suffering from it to seek help.

I personally know two PTSD vets from the Bosnia mission - both MPs. (if you don't know why MP's were in that theatre you better read more about some of the tasks NATO did while there ... it was more than just blow shit up)

anyhoo, lets just say the one with a supportive spouse has fared far better than the single guy who still is a minor train wreck .... yes decades later

Like most anything medical or psychological that you can put a label on....some folks with PTSD manage to roll with it, other's are far more scarred, often to the point of it being an impediment to ordinary living. Not everyone's experiences are the same, and not everyone's ability to cope with what they experienced is the same either.
