Ive checked through my last 280 posts, and im still convinced SoM and i had a conversation about this game. Or at least an exchange of views on how awesome and tantalising the game title is, but i cant find it......

On the assumption that its not been brought up already - here it is:-

If you can play the game without waging war then this will be a good Cold War game.
But if your only option is to wage war like Supreme Ruler Cold War, then it's not the Cold War game that I'm looking for.

You should still be able to build a formidable army and a nuclear arsenal as a form of deterrent and the game should be able to simulate how catastrophic WWIII is if it breaks out.  Especially a nuclear one where cities get decimated and no one really wins.

Given my preferences (a "Balance of Power" remake), I am actually looking forward to Twilight Struggle PC.

My sentiments exactly,

It's where I had hoped some team would take HOI3.

I really wanted to like Supreme Ruler Cold War, but the devs decided to keep the same problems in the game system from previous versions.  So many combat units that the game slows to a near standstill before a campaign has matured.  Puppet states and regional proxy wars not being finished or missing altogether.  Techs being unfinished and/or useless.  SRCW still has most of the faults from previous Supreme Ruler games and the devs have flatly stated they're not going to change.  It also seemed like updates were almost non-existant and far between if we ever got any.  The game was released unfinished and judging by the update activity, it never will be.  I was sadly disappointed.

So perhaps these guys can kick the HOI3 engine in the pants and get something rolling.  Notably in the economic and diplomatic sense.  Any Cold War game should be about manipulation on numerous levels, and not necessarily push you into imminent war unless that's how the cards happen to fall when nobody blinks.  I have nothing against a WW3 situation in such games, they should indeed be a real possibility, but it should mostly be the smaller regional & proxy wars that happen with regularity, not the big one.
