Doesn't seem to bad for 12 bucks.

Hey Captain! Now that you've got the Jolly Roger fluttering in the wind over your ship, you're ready to rove the seas, take on merchant ships loaded with booty and storm formidable fortresses. Set sail and get your hands on all those legendary treasures that are just waiting for the picking!
When we created Tempest, we focused on the most thrilling part of pirate life – sea battles.
As you navigate the dangerous waters of the game you won't just catch up with merchants, but you will encounter fellow pirates, creepy followers of a mysterious cult and terrible mythical monsters: Kraken, Leviathan and other infamous creatures.
Your ship – the pride and joy of any freebooter – can be customized in many ways. You are free to change almost everything – from the color of your flag and sails to the ship's hull and figurehead.
Of course, there are plenty of weapons to choose from for every battle, including cannons, mortars, flame throwers and so on. Also there are special tools ready to help you to rig the ship for any purpose. However, you can win the most valuable artifacts only by finishing the multilevel quests called "legends".
Multiplayer to be added in the future.

 I get it, it's the game design so I'm not criticizing that....but you guys lost me with this:

Love the pirate aspect of it but not sure I want to mix it with fantasy.  Other than that it sounds pretty interesting

I picked up Salt on a sale earlier this year.

While generally not into the Survival-Building games so prevalent these days, that one looked more interesting due to the island-stranded, age of sail, & piratical theme mix.  RPG-style loot.  Lack of zombies as a primary theme.  Etc.  O0 

Haven't played yet since still in development.

Same here.  I was wondering what those fireballs were.

Too bad, because the graphics look pretty good.  I might pick it up for some mindless fun on sale, but I was hoping for a true pirate game.

This is like Windward, but with better graphics. No aiming or shooting, this is done automatically. Pretty basic, actually, with an unfriendly, very limited upgrade system.

What we need is a modern remake of Wooden Ships & Iron Men.

Anything with realistic tactical naval battles from the Age of Sail!  Although a really good pirate RPG would smash the sweet spot.

And I don't want sailing to be click on your destination and either appear there or get interrupted for a battle in between.  I want to actually sail around the Caribbean/Indian Ocean/wherever using the currents and variable winds.  To me, the point-to-point sailing is almost as important as the battles - one of the things that Sid's original pirates got right was having to fight into the teeth of the wind if you want to go from certain places to certain other places.

I love the sailing in Black Flag - except for the wind part.  It seems you always have a favorable wind, and always about the same strength.  Well, I guess it would be nice if they made the map seem larger, too, but the sea states and the way the ship handles is wonderful, a goal for other developers.

Oh, and no fireballs/meteorites/zombies, etc.  Every game doesn't have to simultaneously encompass every genre.  If I want a fantasy rpg, thanks, I'll buy one.

Sea Dogs is a GREAT game. One of my favorite games of all time. Played to completion twice.
