Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellions released...any impressions?

Hmmm... maybe, maybe. The judgement looks a little "snap" IMHO.

Sounds like it's just an expansion, from the list of additions, to me.  Except that it's full price.  Isn't that the gist of his review?

Its $30.  Not sure what the issue is exactly.  Other than gamers have seemed to become a lot who expect something for nothing.  Compare this $30 game to anything Paradox does and I think the value shows.  They could have spilt it into two expansions charged $20 each and used a few DLC at $2--$5 each to put out the content.  They didn't.   You get everything that has been added from graphic/engine upgrades, new ships, new technology, new factions, new victory conditions, new maps, etc for $30 if you owned SotSE previously or a very reasonable $40 if you are new to the game.

Lowest I have seen it during any sale has been about $13, so this is pretty good deal....of course during this year's holiday sale, who knows....but too far off for me:)  I caved as usual and downloading now:)

It really made me think about it, despite not playing Trinity much yet.  Hell.. I still haven't even loaded a few new games I have so I've placed myself on lockdown anyway.  After buying the new FE Beta, perhaps.  :D

Yep, me too....a number of games purchased and either not installed or barely played yet....its an addiction!

I picked it up for $9 over the XMAS sales, if you like the base game, it adds plenty. It is a great RTS because the pace is slow enough to be able to think. The battles are not super fast, it takes some time to bring down a dreadnoght, even with a number of smaller vessels. This gives you time to attempt a withdrawl or send reinforcements. The planet system makes for some terriffic battles for control of choke points.

You may have deduced from this that I am a big fan!

Yeah, so am I - Sins is one of the best games  I've ever played, and it's still one of my go-to games now.  I must have literally hundred of hours on it.

Hopefully I'll get sometime this weekend to try it out....the cinematic battles do look really cool so hopefully gameplay also holds up.
