rise of venice release today!!

Is it me or is there a flood of great releases last month? rome2, Civil war 2, Command, Dom 4 beta, Eu4 and now this! I keep game-hopping. Will pick this one up. I didn't care for PR but I didn't like the setting...but Venice??oh hells yea

Its only going to get worse the next month and a half or so. Luckily for me, Command hit right about when I was beginning to feel burnt out on EU4.

I liked PR, but didn't love it. The setting was fine, but it just didn't click with me. Looking forward to some impressions on Venice. After playing a lot of EU4 the setting is really interesting to me at the moment.

Question -- are Patrician, Port Royale, and Rise of Venice on a continuum in terms of gameplay, each installment kind of refining on the one before it?  Or are there important differences between them? 

I really liked Patrician III, but it's the only one of these games I have any familiarity with.  Have to say I'm more intrigued by Rise of Venice than I thought I would be.  If I liked Patrician, would I like this?

As I'm not reviewing this, I'll post my impressions here on Grogs.  However, for the next week or so, I'm knee-deep into Modern Air/Naval Combat.

If I get time to put into it within the next few days, I will review it for this very site.

I love Venetian history and if not for Rome II this would be an automatic buy. Looking forward to impressions.
