Looks like this kickstarter RPG was just released on Steam.

Dunno what to think of it by the vid and screenshots but what the hell....  It says it's non-linear so I'll give it a go.

That video was like 90% circling around the character!

I backed this a long time ago on Kickstarter.
The devs really messed up the release.

At first we got countless delays because they wanted to first localize the game into a dozen different languages and have voice acting
for each and every version.

Then came a complete lack of communication from them, up to the point we had NO IDEA the game was going to be released today.

And we still didn't get the keys for our copies, for which we funded the project and paid more than what many Steam users pay now for instant access.

As you can guess, the kickstarter comments section is rife with pure rage against the devs :P

Honestly, Gus, it's better than Distilled Rage.  THAT is nasty!

This seems to be happening regularly in Kickstarterville, lately.

My initial impressions aren't terribly good.  While the mix & match spell system looks pretty cool, I'm not sure about the rest of the system.  The jury's still out on that.

The big issues I have with it is the graphics that look low res - even on my smaller native resolution laptop.  It's all blurry and looks like shit.  I could probably get past that if the rest was good, but I'm not sure if it is.  Another thing is the camera control - there almost isn't any other than a basic side-to-side rt-click and drag that you have to keep doing regularly because you can only move your character via WASD.  Nope, there's no click-to-move.  ???  In a game that looks to be attempting an more open NWN style RPG, that's not good.

I won't even mention the strange disjointed writing.  This looks to be done by Russian devs.  It makes you wonder if you're losing your sanity, listening to some of the NPCs.

There is some potential in here, but it seems pretty raw at the moment.

This game could really use a friggin tutorial.
I've got little to no idea what I am even supposed to do in this silly static world...

How do I pick locks?

Why did I have to figure out the magic system on my own?

Why are there no quest tracking options?

How do I craft stuff?

Why's everyone letting me ransack them dry and then sell all their stuff back to them?! :P

What are all these "Scrolls" you can read (and they then disappear).

Why are there absolutely no tooltips or explanations for the items?

What are these glowy effects on some of the items' icons?

::)

Very WoW inspired UI? Check.  Crazy Eastern European lack of documentation and explanation?  Check.  Questionable game play despite "revolutionary" marketing speak in product description?  Check.  Shafted early KS backers. Check and double check.

Looked initially interesting but based on the above and Nefaro's lack of enthusiasm, I think I'll give this one a miss.

I've pretty much stopped backing stuff on KS or Desura.  Too many disappointments.

I came across the answer to this by some random user on a forum.  The two highlighted runes must be connected by a line of matched runes between the two, dropped into the appropriately-runed slots in between.  A mini-game, yes.  Supposedly the runes used from your inventory don't get expended in the process, but you may also need multiple copies of the same one depending on the route.  Note that there are also three different colors of rune sets so that must be matched, too (?).

QuoteWhy did I have to figure out the magic system on my own?

I'm still not sure of the specifics, as a spell I created using two effects wouldn't fire at all.  But the single effect ones would.  Perhaps I didn't have enough Faith (mana)?  No idea.

QuoteWhy are there no quest tracking options?
Hell, it sounds like a fair few of the quests are bugged as hell anyway.

The glowy weapons/equipment are reportedly modifiable ones you can craft runes or something into.. to make them more powerful.

QuoteWhy are there absolutely no tooltips or explanations for the items?

There seems to be some basic pop-up tooltips on the equipment but it doesn't tell you much.  I don't think the devs bothered with the information side of things much.

I've not quite given up on this thing yet, but I may wait and see what it looks like in the future before firing it up again.  It's pretty raw right now, and I'm not sure if they'll bother finishing it.

My current biggest gripe is that the game is unplayable for me.
About a minute into any game sessions my GPU's temps start rising dramatically and the fans go wild :P
