I'll give WW1G props for FORCING an action flow on the players! In that regard it's actually simpler (although players usually hate its action flow. ;) )

Someday I will actually take the time to learn how to play WWIG. But then again I promised myself I would play an entire WitP:AE campaign and that hasn't happened, either.  ;)

You bring up a good point Jason.  WW1G is an excellent game in that it has specific turn phases where your actions are constrained to the phase you're in.  But remember WW1G is based on a cardboard wargame and plays like it.  Hence my great love for that game and it makes logical sense to me.

However I do like the freedom of doing what you want when you want but I still need some kind of per turn action item guide for games like AJE (mention by Hiimori which I also have but couldn't get past 10 minutes of game time) and BoA2, ACW, etc.

With games such as Warlock Master of the Arcane, Endless Space, or Fallen Enchantress the human turn processing flow is easy to understand and get into.

I didn't think AJE required all that many different activities every turn.  Just moving, possibly recruiting new military or supply units, and checking to see whether there are any available 'decisions' that I want to take.

There's no research or anything fancy like that.  There are just two extra categories, really.  Perhaps it seems like more than that since there are a couple different tabs with decisions on them?

Indeed!

Slick, I am at this very moment working on a progressive tutorial of WW1G for absolute newbies (like me) by absolute newbies (like me.  ;D ) Check out our AAR forum, or the related thread here in Computer Wargaming. I came here specifically to post up Part 6. (W8 or any other player with some positive experience is very welcome to contribute corrections/additions as we go.)
