I just got Star Wars Rebellion working on my Win8 machine recently.  I've been playing it on and off when I can.

I'm only going to throw-back as far as Empire Total War( 08 or 09 maybe) with the American Revolution mod-- still maybe my all time favorite Total War game. Trying to pull Spain's chestnuts out of the fire globally. But from somewhere a conflict has arisen causing CTD's when going to the battle map. A check of the mod site has it unfortunately no longer actively supported. Many of the mods from ETW are dying-off regularly now and most for MTW have been dead for some time. It's sad but I guess nothing good ever lasts forever.  :-\

Having a quick go of Flight Commander 2 and Achtung Spitfire. Love the flight control mechanic in these games. Shame someone doesn't use it but use a 3D display. Darkwind uses a similar mechanic but obviously has no X axis.

How did you do that?  And will it work for Chaos Overlords?

As to older games, I just reinstalled Armageddon Empires and started a new game as the Free Mutants.

^All I did was copy the contents of the CD directly to the hard drive in a folder called LucasArts.  You have to copy everything on the CD over to the hard drive.  Installing the game from the CD with Autoplay does not work.

After you manually transfer the files you need to go into the registry and add the appropriate keys.  I found the exact command lines to insert into the registry through Google.  Then right click the rebellion exe and run in compatibility mode, windowed (very important or the game won't run right), and as administrator.  Actually the shortcut you copy to the desktop should have the -w in the shortcut path so that the game runs in windowed mode. 

The whole key to this was the manual install and the registry entries.  I bet this trick works with a lot of the older games.

I'd love to be able to play through the Gold Box series of D&D again...I've tried several times before but the copies I get don't ever run right.

I was able to get the Buck Rogers series to work last year, but I couldn't get into it like I did in 1990.

I want to revisit Covert Action again, that's for sure.

It runs just fine for me and my friends.  You may want to get the Multi-Installer version, just to be on the safe side, but I didn't have problems with the disk either.

I am playing Storm over the Pacific as pbem but can't seem to be able to take screenshots with Fsscreen...anyone knows how? But it's not the oldest game i play....will post more tonight or tomorrow with screenshots... ;)

Couldn't resist firing up the old Baldur's Gate 2 which I got on GOG for cheap awhile back. I put many an hour into it when it first came out a long time ago but never finished. Not sure if I will this time but I'm having fun with it.
