it would be quite the interesting place if we all lived in the same area.
there would be a shit ton of smart little fuckers running around.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

As at least one of the commenters on that story noted, there seems to be some missing information in that story. There's a lot more at work there that's not being said. I wouldn't put it past the news to create something in their readers' minds that's not actually there, to give it a more offensive and outrageous factor and to generate reactions like "If it were MY daughter they'd never find the bastard again!" I trust no news organization to give all the facts.

Note that the news story states 'inappropriate' texts (in single quotes, to cover their asses), but the police say there's nothing in the texts that's criminal, and most police organizations I know are rather quick to act on things like this, especially when they're under a news microscope.

I know, I know..."that's not the point, the point is he's a douchebag for texting the 15-year-old in the first place." Well, sure, okay...but what were they texting to each other? Homework assignments? Class questions? Certainly not "hey babe what's ur bra size lolz." Again, we do not have all the facts, and the news, I am certain, is withholding information to manipulate a certain shock response to get people to visit the page and up their count and thereby increase their ad revenue.

Basically, don't let these assholes manipulate you.

I know that sounds awfully :crazy2: of me, but I'm good friends with two folks that used to be news reporters here in Houston, both of whom have had lots to say (off the record of course) about how the business of the news is run. It's nothing that would shock anyone here, no doubt. But they are manipulative f*ckers.

But don't get me wrong...if some 42 year old dude is texting my 13-year-old daughter, Imma kick his ass.  :tickedoff:

It wasn't criminal, but the police report had something along the lines of "an unusual emotional relationship" or some such. It doesn't sound like he was just texting her about homework assignments.

Pretty much all public schools now have policies against teachers contacting students directly by phone, text, email or through social media. So, even if the guy didn't commit a crime, it was almost certainly inappropriate for him to be texting her at all. At the very least, by school policy. And showing up at her house uninvited to talk with the Dad seems criminally stupid. Oh and then he apparently refused to leave when asked. Strike three.
