Magic is very prominent in the game, right? It's not muted, for lack of a better word?

Not at all.  And the vocal snips that were on an endless loop have been removed.

Damn. Like hot cakes, this game is selling. Someone post a criticism of it! Even a little one will do.

There are no City Guards complaining about taking an arrow in the knee. There are no warriors from Hammerfell with curved swords. Curved. Swords!

How was that?

However... there are NPCs that will walk about repeating the same sentences over and over.  So it's a good substitute for the point I emboldened in your post.

I like arrow in the knee better.
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

i picked an assassin and a warrior as close combat specialists and in the first little bit of drama the assassins option had a little bit of magic in and i didnt think shed use any - i expected a knife to the face but theres little combat spells all over the place and i dont even have a wizard

although i did spend 30 mins making sure i picked up all the shells in the opening scenario(!)

Yeah I have the same builds...a warrior and an assassin (or a shadow warrior) whatever it's called.  I walked around the beach until I ended up in some dungeon, killed a few mommies and then pop back out the other side.  I guess I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing not sure though having a good time with it.

Heartless bastard.

Good article, you don't often see companies post sales amount...since released, already sold 160,000 copies and have nearly already reached the break even point...not bad.

I dunno.. the female orc librarian keeps reading some part of a book and exclaims, ".. and then the Princess' red bottom blushed, and the knight [something or other vaguely filthy].  Oh how DIRTY Miss So&so is!" as if reading a harlequin novel and acting shocked.   ;D  I heard that about fifteen times last night.   Could be a new one.

Hoe-ry Crap!  It cost them 4 Million Euros to create D:OS?  That's a lotta cram.

But this makes me curious...

QuoteVincke then said he plans to try to obtain the license for a mystery role-playing franchise - but stopped short of saying what it was.

"There was a certain license we tried to get, but they haven't replied to us," he said. "Maybe now they will reply to us! I'm not going to tell you, because that will ruin the chances of me getting it.

Hrmmmm.....

Trying to acquire a specific RPG license?  I wonder if it was originally a tabletop or digital one?

Someone needs to do an Isometric PC version of Chaosium's old Call of Cthulhu RPG.  Or a properly detailed Shadowrun, of course.  ;)

Make sure you save, often.  This game in a good way is tough.  I am still at low levels and am finding it a good challenge and it doesn't help if you wander into an area infested with high level orcs. :)

Quicksave = F5
Quickload = F8

Use liberally.

I find myself having to reload mainly because I accidentally click on something I shouldn't or accidentally speak with an NPC while my weapons are drawn and THEN further screw up by hitting the #1 conversation reply (normally the default) that starts a fight with them when they challenge you.   ;D

Must be careful.

I got killed by the city guards when I attacked a campfire.  I put my cooking pot on it to see if I could craft some food.  I couldn't get my cooking pot back and it pissed me off.  So I did what any rational man would do.  I drew my sword and attacked the campfire.  The guards clearly didn't approve and attacked me resulting in a complete party wipe.

Did it first cry, "GUARDS!" like the homeless bum I accidentally attacked?  ;D

I got into a fight with the two drunk guards your meet up with at the very beginning only because I refused their offer to lead me to Athus.  Fortunately it didn't lead to any repercussions inside of town.
