Ended up purchasing 4.0 last night, not a lot of time with it, but liking a few things already.....I know sounds stupid, but seeing actual crew in the vehicles is nice, love the overhead view although I wish there was edge screen scrolling allowed, and graphics do seem improved.  My PC is a few years old, I don't really judge by FPS, just actual gameplay feel....so far, haven't noticed much of a difference even on some of the larger missions.  For once, I am going to learn how to play this game proper:)

I agree on the 3D crew members.  I am ashamed to say it REALLY bugged me pre-4.0.

I've been watching some videos and this is a 100% must-buy for this weekend.

I might even swing by a virtual unit or two...   :P

Personally, I rarely play in the first person.  I play it mostly from the map and overhead at this point.  It is great fun and somewhat educational.  The engineering aspect of it is fascinating.

Going to upgrade soon...but I have just one question:  can you bail out of damaged tanks?
Now, the problem is, how to divide five Afghans from three mules and have two Englishmen left over.

Ssnake

No bailing. It's safer inside anyway. Well, most of the time. Like, in 50%, rounded up.  :buck2:

Saw this posted over at SimHQ.  Pretty bad ass.

I'm gonna try to get this all installed on my rig tomorrow.

This scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message.

Previous history:
After failing to take the runway on 02/11/14. The valiant Commander Colebrook led a hasty retreat from the theater of operations. The  depleted force had to make a fighting withdrawal to the deployment zone. It was thanks to having heroically secured the 3 bridges earlier that he managed the withdrawal. The enemy was at his heels all the way. Against heavy odds he brought the boys home. Commander Colebrook sustained heavy injuries. The enemy may be calling in reinforcements.

We need to take the runway!!!!

Our reinforcements have arrived.

Enter Commander Lumi...

Hi Toonces

When you see "My Scenarios" in the selection. You click on "My scenarios" you will see "Scenarios". Select that and all the missions are there.

There are several folders like Contest, Single, etc.

LOL.  I meant where are all of the other scenarios for download?  I checked steelbeasts.com but they're kind of thin.  Where are y'all hiding them?

Only been out a week:)

There are a bunch at steelbeasts.com, I am not sure about using some of the really old ones though.  I know I have downloaded a few and they work OK.

Posted by SSnake on the Simhq forums :

- Is the 3.0 Key settings file compatible w/ 4.0?

I think the old file will be imported (and converted). Which means that from that point on it can no longer be used in 3.0.
Of course there are new commands in it, so it makes sense to go through the list and see if you want to change anything.

- Are pre-4.0 scenarios compatible w/ the new engine?

Yes, old scenarios should load without problems. The old nav meshes are however obsolete and will be ignored (so it makes sense to open the scenarios in the Mission Editor, go to the Maps menu, and purge, then rebuild the navmesh; which is now lightning fast, compared to the old way). While you're at it, feel free to adjust the weather conditions.

- Old skins?

Most of them won't work, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Old models are routinely updated by us, so the old textures simply no longer work.
