I've played a few games of Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Game this weekend, and have repeatedly gotten my ass handed to me on the first quest.  Going to try to play 3 characters next and see if that helps.  To make matters worse, I realized I was playing one rule a little wrong, giving myself an advantage. And I thought Space Hulk Death Angel was hard.

After using toenail clippers once again, today, I've almost convinced myself to finally get one.  Not only for the even trim, but to help save my eyes from squinting intently at each corner clip.  Too much free-range playing with counter corners will make you go blind.

Just a spectacular game.

Wife, son, and I got greased four times and finally beat the first movie on the very last turn of the very last card of the fifth game.  THe three of us are still, a day later, going over the win and looking forward to taking on Aliens.

Blocks in the East

I'm starting one last round with the basic rules before digging into the standard then advanced rules. The standard rules introduce headquarters units which activate subordinate units a la East Front, and a beefed up production system. The advanced rules are as extensive as the basic+standard combined...maybe more so. I own the limited edition of BITE, which included a pile of extra gear...plus the chrome upgrade package, Limited editions Blocks in the West, and Blocks in Africa, plus several home made player aides. Everything but the gortex maps and kitchen sink basically. It's going to be a beast when I finally get it all set up, which will require some extensions to my gaming table. Am thinking this will remain a solo only effort as it's just too big and too fiddly with the standard map for play by multiple humans...especially ones not afflicted with OCD. Many will disagree, but I think that block games are well suited for solitaire play. I usually wait a day between playing each side and find that I can't remember the disposition of the opposing side any better than when I've played block games with an opponent. Anyway, I'm all setup for another push on Moscow come Monday when my weekend begins.

It is brutally hard, but a good game.

I played it once and it will always stick with me because it was an EPIC game. We all lost. My guy was the first to succumb to the facehuggers and I had a xeno bust out of my character's chest. One turn later the ship blew up.

Played my first career as a fleet boat commander in the solitaire game Silent Victory.

First patrol went extremely well, with over 26k tons sunk & a Silver Star, despite all the dud torpedoes.   Thanks in part to finding a 16,600 ton troop/passenger ship right before heading home and sending the rest of my torpedoes at her.

Second patrol... hit a mine right when I reached my patrol zone around Japan.  Dead.      I knew it wouldn't last, but damn if Lady Luck isn't a fickle broad.

Well, this was on my table for almost a complete turn before one of the cats intervened on behalf of the Rebels  :(
I was able to get a copy of the Vassal version so I'll start again. I will build/get a gaming table this year.

White Dog's Don't Tread on Me. I'm using an alternate map that Chris Dorrell posted at BGG. I printed it on photo paper sheets (4 total) and put it on card stock. I taped it so I could fold it up and place it in the box. It's much more 'atmosphere' than the original map.
