If he were a different race, this never would have been a story in the first place.

I see the Justice Department is now investigating the Ferguson police department.  I'm guessing they know that the police office was justified for his actions, and since they cannot hang him on this, their going to condemn the whole department.

Thus the reason why I've referred to the "Justice Department" in quotation marks all throughout Holder's reign. It's become a political tool that Nixon would have envied.

Can anyone name a department that has not been made into a political tool by this president?

The Post Office?

But let's not act like both of the major parties don't do it by choosing what to enforce or not.  When it's your party, there's a perfectly justifiable reason; when it's the other guy, it's clearly corruption in action.  Sometimes, your guys are corrupt; sometimes, they are justified.

Not saying this is either one, just that we should avoid generalities when there's plenty of bad behavior in all directions.

No, I'm pretty sure that after six years in office, we are not dealing in generalities here. The "Justice Department", like the IRS, has clearly shown a particular political bent from day one, when memos defining very stark racial objectives were leaked. You're certainly right to point out that both sides have corrupt individuals among their ranks, and I don't trust either party as far as I could throw their wallets,  but anyone who can't see the obvious political and racial overtones to damn near everything this administration has done domestically is simply making excuses. Hell, I can find good things to say about both Clintons, but a generation from now (once the fawning admirers in the press and academia have passed on) Obama will be regarded among the Franklin Pierces and Jimmy Carter's of the White House.

The Post Office is not a good example since it has been a political tool of all parties since its inception.

Brant is right on this one. The office of AG is a political lightning rod. Their job is to sometimes take the heat off the prez.

What's different here is the number, breadth, and depth of scandals. There are so many, each worse than the others, and little is being done about any of them beyond lip service.

Personally, I find the current admin a classic case of theater of the absurd. As such, it's appropriate to call for multiple investigations of investigations of investigations. As the old Latin saying goes: Who will watch those who watch the ones watching the other ones watching the watchers?

Or something like that.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

its Toonces and Ferguson all rolled into one:

Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

A new video has surfaced: http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/11/us/ferguson-michael-brown-shooting-witnesses/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

I saw that and am extremely disturbed by the implications. It's one thing for his friends or family to claim he was shot repeatedly while surrendering, but these guys were true bystanders and were clearly upset by what they saw going down. Disturbing....

That other vid I posted of the shooting - the cops had tasers, vests, and more. There were options other than firing a dozen times.

I will be curious to see how these investigations turn out.

Nothing can justify the rioting.
