Looks like we are getting a mission editor

Wish they'd get back to patching PRoN...  Still bitter over that one. Serves me right for listening to a certain poster on another site with premature revaculation syndrome.  His NWAC review was up within 24 hours of initial game release.

PRoN is conceptually broken and unfixable.

The concept was good, but the AGE engine just can't handle how massive the game is.
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

Well I considered the use of the AGE engine for ProN as part of the concept.  If you consider that as an execusion issue then the concept is ok.

But the bottom is we're stuck with the AGE engine which can't handle the game so no amount of patching will fix this problem.

Ok let's get back to topic.

I'm hoping they get savegames in soon, 2 little ones and a baby plus 2 hour scenarios don't mix. :)

Lack of in-mission saves has kept me from even looking at the demo.

I'm 8+ hours in and appear to be having a good time. I completely lose track of time when I'm playing and I consider that a good sign. The things I appreciate most so far:

1) Low flying aircraft don't crash 75% of the time as they did in Harpoon
2) Interface is very informative and intuitive (at least to me).

I'm thinking of getting this game also.  I like that it is set in the present.  Is there a lot of micromanagement to it?

Yup.  Right down to the last sonobuoy.

Wish mine would pay more attention to their fuel gauges.  They keep patrolling beyond bingo fuel limits and crashing.  I blame the Americans for putting Imperial gauges in the F-35 cockpits.  Mah flyin' contraption gits 35 barleycorns per firkin!

Herman Hum

Same here.  I tried to leave the aircraft management to the AI and ended up losing more planes to fuel starvation than to enemy action.  :(

I want to like this game, but it's just not holding my attention.

The Devs are cool and they are working to address a good number of the real and perceived pitfalls of the game. It sounds like a save function is in the works, a continue option for missions, a number of data tweaks as folks find wonkey values. Modders are looking into the files (cough, cough, already using some tweaked data to lower gun hit percentages (alot), and also scale RCS of missiles down, and some weapon system number corrections) and the devs are supporting things there too. They are already looking at a mission editor and a number of other things. In my books that kicks ass for the cost of the game. These guys are in it because they love the game not to squeeze more cash from a rehashed turd (looking at you EA sports).

Ran into a weird bug tonight - I launched a flight of 2 Gripens and after about 5-10 minutes I noticed they weren't moving. They were stuck at high altitude and couldn't be selected any longer -but a white selection box stayed around them for the remainder of the scenario. Whenever I clicked on the selection box around the planes there were no aircraft in the unit view windows.... Strange..... I hope this doesn't happen with actual Gripens  ;D

MIGMaster,

The freeze bug is a known issue. I had it happenonce on an aircraft, but after cycling through some other units and going back to the "frozen" one it started moving again.I think in some cases the game loses track of units going through certain loops in the code. I hope they fix that soon as well.

Thanks for the heads-up.... I haven't been following any of the tech issues info on the game in a meaningful fashion - I may want to start  ;)

New patch just released. Bug and data fixes. New scenario. Tweaks to a few current scenarios. Get it while it's hot.  8)
