I was pleasantly surprised in reading the opening credits to see that Dan Abnett of Warhammer 40,000 fame wrote the story for Alien: Isolation...good things are to come, I'm sure.

Speaking of, I just now realized that the crew's exosuits worn in the first movie actually look like proto-Space Marine suits. From WH40K I mean, not from Aliens. The proportions aren't right -- though they look closer-to-codex proportions when the cameraman's kids are wearing scaled down suits for shots outside the landing struts and with the Space Jockey, because the kids' skulls, and thus their helmets, are smaller in proportion to the padding -- and the lighting isn't good for showing the similarities usually. But the production diaries show them in clearer lighting.


Also, random Groggy trivia: a lot of the Nostromo set was built from WW2 graveyard planes! (Though they sold the titanium to recover the cost of buying the planes from the graveyard.)


I had pulled out my Blu set docs to see if I was only imagining there being a larger-scale puppet, not only a suit (per the conversation upthread), and got distracted.  8) Still haven't gotten to the creature effects yet, though I've seen quite a bit of the suit.

I just watched Alien and I forgot how good the film was. The set was superb, the special effects (bar a few) were crazy for the era and the story was outstanding.

I think I need to get that game  :(

Damn GR - I know you were being helpful, but I just noticed as well as getting Alien:Isolation for £20 but I can also get F1:2014 for £22!
