I might play some Grimlock II.

Other than that: BoS, DCS, Spintires, boardgames and the eternal WitpAE PBEM.  The reserve-plane auxiliary carriers are starting to arrive!
But the Japs still have maybe 18 carriers of various sizes or roughly 2.5 KBs.  I have 12 counting the Long Island.  That's August 1942 without Coral Sea or Midway.

A couple of good WitPAE turns for the Allies:  Sank some subs and tankers and patrol boats without losing anything.  Meanwhile in Grimrock II -- I'm so bad at Puzzles!  But the game is better than Spintires (which is not saying much).

Spintires sucks? Dammit I've been eyeing that one.

Well, I like it.  But for 30 bucks its kind of limited and I kind of doubt anyone else will like it.  I sort of feel the same way about Grimrock II -- I'm amused, but it might be a bit easy for the average Grog.

Don't know about the Royals but he did play for my Feds in OOTP.  :P

lol. Awesome!

;D  Very nice.  Royals right now could use some karma channeling from Saberhagen's '85 campaign.

...prospect of yet another Giants WS championship... *yawn*...

What is it about Spintires that would turn grogs off?

No clear objectives.  Lots of unclear interactions (with just about anything that's not a natural object -- rivers are pretty cool and even tree stumps have an intuitive side to them -- BUT how to load timber, how to get options etc, etc. -- not very clear -- how to switch camera modes etc. etc.).

In my MTW/VI campaign, I *finally* managed to add Valencia and Navarre to my lands!  8)

Embarrassingly, however, I had to do several campaign restarts to pull it off -- and not because of a lost battle either, but because of El Cid:  He's one of a handful of the game's "rebel" Hero generals, with some very decent stats; he's one of the best military commanders in the early game if you can get your hands on him.  In addition, he essentially rules the "rebel" province of Valencia at the  beginning of the Early period.

So when playing as either Castille or Aragon, I always send my emissary to bribe him, as that way I acquire both an excellent general plus a decent province.  (Not to mention which, that way I don't have to fight the bastard either!)  Problem is, the Cid is often very resistant to bribes (I gotta give props to the man for having principles)...and for some bizarre reason I've never been able to discern, no amount of save/reloads will change the result of the bribe attempt.  So if he turns down my emissary, I must go back to the main menu and start a brand-new campaign all over again.  :buck2:

But no matter.  El Cid and his duchy of Valencia are mine now, and with his superior generalship (he get's a +2 command bonus when attacking), I successfully conquered Navarre as well.  Now to determine my next move...

Sir Slash

It's the same in M2TW. He's in Valencia but won't take a nickel to join you. So you got to ignore him or kill him. And he doesn't look anything like Charlton Heston.

It's a Russian or Ukrainian game, isn't it?

That's the vibe I got.  I am just not culturally able to figure out what to do with a truck in a forest.
