Wow, I didn't think this re-imagined console version would ever come to the PC.  But it is!

Changes:

QuoteWhat's new in Frozen Synapse Prime?

•   Enhanced Visuals – The look and feel of the game has been enhanced with new player models, motion captured animations, detailed geometry, new lighting and themes, improved cameras and more.
•   Redesigned UI – The games UI has received a complete overhaul to make it more user friendly and immediate for players.
•   New Commands and Gameplay Tweaks – Players can now Sweep around a fixed point as well as Aim in a fixed direction, a dynamic cone of vision shows you exactly where your unit can see, you can now focus or ignore on individual rooms quickly, firefights can end with both units dying and rockets can now direct hit another unit and explode on impact.
•   New and Improved Campaign – The campaign story has been restructured, individual missions have been redesigned to make them more fun and the difficulty curve has been improved particularly in the early missions.
•   Multiplayer Overhaul – Each multiplayer mode has been tweaked to improve the player experience - rule changes, scoring changes, improved feedback and more. Creating and finding a match is now much easier and replays of all your matches are available in the Replay Theatre.
•   New SFX – The entire game has had its sound effects reworked, from the guns and explosions to the front end menus, all balanced with the epic soundtrack.
•   Customization – Fully customize and preview the map layout and your squad of units before each Skirmish or Multiplayer match.
•   Tutorials – Two new tutorial missions perfect for getting you up to speed with how the game is played very quickly.
•   Hints Bar – The Hints Bar gives you an overview of what you can do at any given time, helping new players learn the game's controls and commands really easily.
•   New ways to play - Fully playable with XInput controllers (perfect for Big Picture) as well as full keyboard and mouse controls.
•   Optimizations – Level and Map Generation is now much faster.
•   Fully Localized – The game is fully localized in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese.

Exclusive Steam Content!

•   Arenas – Specially designed maps available to play against the AI or online. Learn the map, develop your strategies and take on the world.
•   Extended Soundtrack – The original Frozen Synapse soundtrack plus all the tracks from the Red expansion and included in Frozen Synapse Prime.
•   Steam Achievements – A brand new suite of achievements covering the campaign, skirmish mode and online.
•   Steam Trading Cards – A new set of Frozen Synapse Prime trading cards to collect.

Sounds great (even if I am going to wait and see to be sure  ;) )!  Now comes that conundrum: do I keep playing the original until I finish the campaign, or do I abandon it and jump right to this new remastered campaign?   :buck2:

I asked the question on the Steam forums..didn't get a good response.

Will this have a single player, randomly generated skirmish mode, with random maps, and random forces?

Second question..can we randomize the maps and enemy forces, but use a force builder for our side..to try out tactics, and refine our game play?

Good questions!  I hope yes, but based on your experience on the Steam forums, and the fact this is being ported over from the Vita, the answer probably will be a no.  If that is the case, no loss.  I still love the original FS.  Even if the answers are no, the game will be a worthwhile purchase as a backup to FS when that game gets stale.

I forgot about this. I'll probably wait and see, but if the discount for former FS owners is decent i'll probably jump in. 2 vs 2 would be nice or 1vs 1vs1 .

Well its out.  The increased recommended specs will keep me from this one for a while though...

Yeah, I just got notified it was out.   I need to check out the forums to see if we have any answers to DennisS' questions.

Oh, I thought this was a free upgrade to bring the PC version's graphics in line with the PS version.  And it doesn't support Linux either, even though the original does!

I'm out.

How do you get the 50% off coupon for previous owners...anybody...i asked in the steam forums no response yet.

Mine just appeared in my inventory, budd.  I'm sure yours will appear soon, but you can just have mine if you want.

In your steam inventory? i never bought it on steam. Thanks for the offer i might take you up on it. I'm on the fence right now, not liking a lot of what i'm reading about it so far.

Got it, meaning I have a 2nd copy up for grabs...

There are some neat additions, like being able to set your guys to 'peek' in a specific direction while moving a different way.

Huw the Poo

You were always able to do that, Arctic.  Perhaps that's why I consistently kicked your arse! :D
