Quote4th Dec 1971, The Montreux Casino in Switzerland burnt to the ground during a gig by Frank Zappa. The incident is immortalized by Deep Purple's 1973 hit, 'Smoke On The Water' - 'some stupid with a flare gun, burned the place to the ground..'. In 1967 the Casino became the venue for the Montreux Jazz Festival, which was the brainchild of music promoter Claude Nobs. On the night of the blaze, Nobs saved several young people who, thinking they would be sheltered from the flames, had hidden in the casino from the blaze. A recording of the outbreak and fire announcement can be found on a Frank Zappa Bootleg album titled 'Swiss Cheese / Fire.' More: http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/pages/machine_head

Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Indeed.  Earnestly, too.

More power to you. I can't do Karaoke unless I have at least three beers in me and I notice how bad all the other 'performers' are and decide they need to hear how songs are supposed to be sung.

MetalDog

I've done that, too.  As a matter of fact, the first time I karaoked, every body grabbed their baby and headed out to the dance floor.  It was, 'Sea of Love,' by the Honeydrippers.  Another time, on Halloween, my (now ex-)wife had to duck in to a bar to pee and we stayed to have a beer.  I signed up for, 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love,' by Queen.  They called me up and I killed it.  The owner of the bar came over to tell me to come back any time.

LOL.

I remember the first time I did that, and two of my three-song set. It was when I worked for United Airlines, probably summer of '99 that everyone went to this bar just outside the airport grounds that they usually hung out at and invited me along. I had three beers in me and one guy was doing Hotel California (why do they ALWAYS have to sing that?) and doing it like shite, so I put up three songs...the first I can't remember. The second was Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer, which I did pretty well, and the last one was I Want A New Drug by Huey Lewis and the News, which I must have knocked out of the park because the entire place was up and dancing...then again, it was late and everyone had a few in them, so who knows. One guy's girlfriend wanted to sing that last song with me and he was getting PISSED because she wouldn't leave my side. She was all "Whyyy? I wanna sing with him! I donn' wanna sit downnn!!"  ;D I remember her well. She was hawt.
