and fortunately (when it came to game money spendings) PantherGames is so slooow  >:D that there will be only one 50-buck-bundle upgrade every 2 years so (and that engine version may not even have enuf new features added to pull the trigger on upgrading older scenarios so it can also be 4 years) ....so its $25 a year, or less ;)

I think You are right. It is sad because I want to support devs. But for now I don't see any reason to get CO2.  It feels more like CO1.5. Nonetheless I hope that first mayor update will be great with a ton of nice new features so I can pull the trigger. I'm angry because CO2 was my day 1 purchase and now it is I'll wait and see.

I fired this up tonight and started Parachutes over Corinth.

A few things I noticed

  • The order buttons are aligned to the bottom of the screen and very handy there
  • The task you give your units does not seem to be centred. So ordering a unit to defend shows the standard square, but the defend icon is not in the centre of the square
  • I loaded a dialog to view a task and it wasn't displaying the info properly (running off the bottom of the dialog)
  • When I tried to move said dialog, the game crashed and chucked me to the desktop

So...not a great first try  :'(

Were you playing with the latest patches installed?  I know they have released several, not sure if would help if you didn't yet.

JudgeDredd

Seems not. I'm downloading now

Thanks for the heads up. I'm so used to my games being auto-updated (Steam)

Installed the patch. The crash did not occur and the screens looked correct - but the order icon was still not in the centre of the square.

Just a reminder, only 3 days left for people that want the deal on the commander pack.....I still haven't pull the trigger myself, but still thinking:)

just do it ;)...........or not, CO1 plays fine. It is a nice priced packaged, i'm not sure whether i'll upgrade my packs in the future or just buy going forward, depends on how the upcoming features effect gameplay. Mounted ops is going to be a real big change, might upgrade for that feature. CO2 engine is pretty close to going final and the new west wall module is right around the bend. I think my favorite features of CO2 are the record/playback feature, i like jumping in and taking over from where my plans went wrong and trying different things. I hope Panther makes it so you can play either side in the playback, that would be sweet, apparently you can already do that in the developers build and being able to save more than 1 recording[you can rename and do this currently] The other feature i really like is the plan dialog box, pop it open and check all your orders and their status...nice. I think my one biggest complaint is the maps, functional but reading the terrain features, LOS, elevation could be better. Don't need 3d just something to make reading the terrain easier. I read that plodders situation maps for the scenario introduction screens are done for BFTB and will be in the next update. These look pretty killer

I've actually got a couple of ideas about relief shading. I have to find some time to see out if they work or not.

So help me remember again, I get so confused on their pricing models.  When the next major upgrade is released, we would have to purchase all the modules again if we want to use the new engine?  Been hinting about buying this but if you need to purchase everything again, I'll likely just wait until the next major release,
