this weekend opens up before me like a............. well, empty void of gaming space. No undercover junior duty and no plans - proper in the mood for a cup of tea drinking thinkfest - to my discredit ive only played 8/10ths of one Civ 5 game, my first Civ since Civ 2 that frankly if i could have the time spent playing that returned to me id be in my youth again!

Which does the community generally recommend - i like 5, no problems at all, just got waylaid slightly and never went back, but the praise for 4 and its mods seem much higher and longer - i have 48 hours of man hours to kill, 80 teabags to get through and some iq points to waste - what shall it be?

CiV Nights is a very good mod for Civ V.

Realism Invictus (?) is a very good mod for Civ IV that I was pointed to by someone here.

Either will consume your 48 hrs. easily.

LongBlade

The special today on Impulse is Civ V for 50% off if anyone wants it and doesn't own it already. That prices it at $15.

whats this 'beyond the sword' shenannigans all about?

Bison

Just play a game of Civ 5 vanillia and advance your civ to giant death robot tech and crush your enemies.  Save the mods for later.

^ Not these days - no National Coal Board any more - all 't pits closed down lad.

This used to be a thriving coal producing area, the pits also created much peripheral work for local industry, now all just about gone. Seems to cheaper to import coal rather than continue to support local industry. Bah!
