Estonia had Finland as a patron.  Greece had no supporter, and then ran through any good will by it's fiscal irresponsibility.

During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

There was another "deal" on Greece over the weekend.  Greece got some short term financing - but the terms of the current loan agreements were maintained.  There is supposedly room for Greece to make suggested changes going forward - but they have to put a specific offer in writing.

Most notably in the new deal, the lender countries put into place a requirement that any new deal be approved by their respective legislatures.  So Greece is now in a position where they both have to convince the heads of state of the lenders, they also have to persuade their Parliaments.  I think it is May or June where the big Greek debts must be refinanced - but there are multiple roadblocks that still must be navigated before you get to that point.  But the Greek legislature must also approve any deals - and who knows what they will do.

A discussion of how dicey obtaining approval from the European Parliaments may be can be found at:

Greece pulls out of NATO, Turkey moves on Cyrpus, Greek calls for help from...Russia??

Yes , this is the point in a nutshell, if you don't keep them in NATO and the EU they will look elsewhere for help and that will only mean Russia or the Chinese.

Enough already. Greece needs to leave the Euro, but instead of the all the politicians in the eurozone being responsible, they are just stalling for time before having to take the  consequenses and admit they made a mistake.

Greece supposedly agreed to repay the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on current terms.

But yesterday they said they may not make the 1.4 Billion Euro payment to the IMF required in the agreement.  If Greece defaults to the IMF, they would join the illustrious company of Haiti, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

The new Greek Communists also announced they would give free electricity to 300,000 homes and give long payback periods to those caught cheating on their taxes if they were "deserving."

Excellent! Rule by arbitrary values. That should stimulate their economy in oh, say, a century.  ::)

A price of "free" always encourages rational use of resources.

All the Greeks have now is time.

I'm going to have to plead ignorance of the meaning, Stagger.  Please don't take that as a sign to explain. ;)

If this has anything to do with The Bachelor I'm going to lobby to get you banned.

I'm afraid that I don't know the first thing about The Bachelor. He sounds like the code name for some movie hitman or serial killer.  :P

Good. I live with three women and I know far too much about. One season they had a South American soccer player. 'Nuff said about that.
