Huh.  Last night I tried a MOBA called Stellar Impact, which is set in space with each player controlling a ship instead of a character.  It's much slower and the community, for now at least, seems to be much more receptive to noobs.  Someone was actually patiently showing me how to play the game at one point!  I'll have to play some more tonight.

its one of the things you have to experience at least once - its very very satisfying, especially when he makes it his mission to come looking for you only to get shot in the face, again, and again, and again - thinking youll be standing in exactly the same place and not stalking the spotty little bastard as soon as he spawns!! To be finished with him screaming into the mic and been abrruptly cut off as he pulls the power out of the back of his ps3  :'(

(Background:  This guy had been verbally sniping at me the entire match -- I was a complete newbie -- but then couldn't take what he dished out when I finally snapped and bit back, calling him Hitler's bastard love-child.  It turned out he was Austrian...)

EXACTLY. Find someone who is being obnoxious and just focus on them. Get them obsessed with tracking you down.

my friend who is very very good at playing these games (i dont know how he does it, just tops the table everytime) plays with a sly smile on his face - i asked him one day what that was all about, he said 'its not about enjoying himself, but its all about making sure the a***holes dont enjoy themselves'!!! and crusades against all 'obnoxious' people
