I seem to recall another version (I thought by the HISHE team) where Moff nukes Yavin itself on the correct theory that destroying the planet would sufficiently wreck if not outright destroy the moon. Granted, the DS should have warped into attack range correctly the first time; but granting the navigation error, I can buy that you couldn't hyperjump it again anytime soon. (...and, maybe that's the reason they didn't just shoot Yavin and kill the moon by secondary action -- would have gotten them, too.)

A cooler ending would've been to have the Rebels sabotage the DS's Navigation Jump Thing and have the DS crash into Yavin destroying it. No eggnog for me please.  :clap:
