I'm pretty sure we got about the minimum realistic expectation possible down here in upper middle West TN. It's all over but the microsleeting. Two inches (average, my guess) on some ice.

There has been a dusting in Atlanta.   Maybe a quarter of an inch. 

It's chaos out there right now.  The acrid smell of smoke fills my nostrils from the few dwellings that were unwise and did not fortify themselves. 

I can catch the tinge of burning flesh in that smoke.  Clearly a meal for the ravagers that have come up from the city. 

Tonight I stand silent vigil.  I have my trusty rifle at my side, and the barbed wire and traps I set will likely be tested again and again. 

If I make it until morning I will try to armor my car and venture forth into the wastes to see what remains of civilization.  If there's enough, I might try to make a fresh start from the ashes. 

Wish us luck, but I fear all is lost.
