Not really expensive. You can easily get into for under $100. Pick up the WW2 rules and few planes and you're good to go. Hell, you could probably due it for under $50. A simple 4 plane dogfight can be a lot fun.

I have a good sized collection of 1/144 planes and it wasn't a huge investment. For a while Walmart sold some pre-painted plastic 1/144s that were dirt cheap. Bought quite a few of those to build the collection.

Most people use 1/300 planes which can be had for small money.

I don't have any of the fancy telescoping stands. Those cost some $$. I just use the Games Workshop flying bases. Dirt cheap and they do the job.

These are a mix of the pre-paint plastics and hand painted metal minis on the GW bases. We use the small black and red D6s to indicate speed and altitude.

Can you suggest some sites to go to? I've tried Googling but I can't find anything decent. Amazon shows little if anything (other than Wings of War stuff, but that's bloody expensive).

What scale are you interested in?

Probably 1/144 or smaller. The videos sported some big honkin' planes, which isn't of interest to me.

The 1/144s are as large as you'll want to go and they can big problematic for big battles (you need lots of table space).

I've dealt with this company for my 1/300s.

My 1/144 metal minis were from True North, which was acquired by Old Glory

Those prices seem a lot higher than what I paid from True North, but that was at least 5-6 years ago.

If you get into the game, I'd also recommend joining the Yahoo group.

Lots of good info/resources.

There's a bunch of 1/300s made for the Luftwaffe 1946 game which would work just fine for CY6:

I don't own any of the Luftwaffe 1946 minis, but I've seem them firsthand and they are very nice looking.

There is a guy on The Miniatures Page who paints up a TON of those 1/200 minis. He's got mad skills, but they look amazing. IMO, perfect scale for the game. Price is nice too. A $1 or $2 more than 1/300 scale and half the cost (usually) of the 1/144th stuff.

Here is a link to the guy I'm talking about.
