Superpower 1 / Globalpower on Windows 10 runs without picture

Wanted to fire up this classic and it's not working. Seems to run, but screen goes to 800x600 and there's audio but still on windows desktop. Worked fine in Win 7 64-bit.
Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

A classic? You mean a classic piece of garbage. I wouldn't expend too much effort getting it running.

Not sure what makes this game a classic. It's pretty much just a database you interact with via a world map. The guy who wrote the AI left the studio before the game was done and that pretty much sealed the games fate. Superpower 2 was even worse and it destroyed the studio.

The game starts, then jumps to desktop at 800x600 but is still running in the background, with audio. I run normally at a resolution of 1680x1050.

Anyone seen this before or have a solution? Thanks.

When I first got my own PC around 15 years ago, this was one of the first games I got. I did find it frustrating but I like to revisit old games.

The only fun part about this game, and I'm thinking more from Superpower 2, was starting a nuclear exchange. graphically, it was very well done. Everything else unfortunately was an abysmal failure and disappointment. Nothing really worked.

I like revisiting old games too, but usually only good ones. O0

Ian C, make sure you set the compatibility options before running (right click on the .exe file). Also, I've found that using Res-o-matic helps in these cases sometimes. Here is a link that talks about it and where to get it.

Thanks Mike. I already tried the admin/compatibility stuff. Was wondering if anyone knew a bit more.
