My kids are psyched too. Now that they're old enough to see more than Pixar flicks, I've been going to the movies more than I had in years.

Got a text yesterday from Fandango saying tix are on sale for Rogue One.

I guess I get the pre-buying tickets thing, but no way I'm going to buy a ticket for a movie unless it's the same day or the day before the showing...thas' just crazy.

so it will be a Monday ( because so  this eve was already nicely pre-blocked in everyones schedule)
so i will see R1 on the 19th. and we allready got the e-tickets with seat reservation today and were able to pick from an allmost full selection of free seats . :bd:

My son and daughter have both seen Fantastic Beasts and they think it's amazing, even better than the Harry Potter movies.

I'm okay with the HP movies, but I much more enjoyed the books. Gus, you and the other heathens should crack open that first one and give it a read; it's well worth it. ;)

Read the first Harry Potter and half of the second and then I didn't give a shit about the characters so never went back.
I've seen most of the movies because my wife likes the books... still don't give a shit...

I get it. I'm not obsessed with it. Some friends of ours were REALLY REALLY REALLY freaking into HP and they let me borrow the first book. I still remember how uncomfortable I was accepting it (lol) because it seemed like I'm reading a kids' book. But, it's actually quite enjoyable, to me anyway. The series took a decidedly dark turn pretty quickly, which I'm not all that interested in, so I guess I'd say the first couple were good. The rest of it, well...

I thought the best part of the movies was the school/growing-up parts not the Save-the-World Battle of Good vs. Evil thing. First film was great, thereafter they went down hill.

Bart: as someone who hasn't read the books but likes the movies well enough (enough to own the Blu set though not a superfan), I shall as always recommend trying Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality -- an epic 7-book sized fanfic that has been completed for about a year now, and available completely for free. Essentially upgrades the story to make everyone (except Ron) more competent with flaws that make more sense within their competencies. The plot continuity is tighter, too, partly because the whole plot resolves during Harry's first year (though with reasonable plot ports from subsequent years, especially "Goblet of Fire" and "Deathly Hallows", as necessary.)

I inhaled it up to about the 2/3 or 3/4 mark the first time; then having caught up to where the author was writing I stayed away a couple of years until he finished and read the whole thing again from the beginning. I'm actually considering going through it again soon, although I've got so many other things on my plate to work on.

...if no one can figure out what this has to do with Rogue One, I'm, uh, not going to tell you....  :-X  :D :nerd:

I've tried reading the Harry Potter books. Not my thing. I know many adults love them, but they definitely seemed like kids books to me.
