Apologies if this has already been mentioned somewhere on these forums.  I've only just found out about it and wanted to make sure the word was well and truly spread.

Sean O'Connor is attempting to Greenlight his new version of Firefight.  It's been in the i-store for a year or so but I don't get i-thingys and have been hoping for a PC version.  Firefight is often described as "Close Combat lite" but, IMO, CC would be improved if it did some things the Firefight way.

The Greenlight page is here:

I guess any support would help.

Thanks,

Andy

This looks good. Got my vote.

Reminds me of Close Combat 2

I thought it was where the original idea for CC came from.

I don't get this Steam Greenlight thing. When you see some of the dross they now sell - why does a game like this have to get voted on for sale ?
"you are the rule maker, the dictator, the mini- Stalin, Mao, Hitler, the emperor, generalissimo, the MAN. You may talk the talk and appear to be quite easy going to foster popularity, but to the MAN I say F*CK YOU." And Steve G is F******g rude ? Just another day on the BF forum ... one demented idiots reaction to BF disagreeing about the thickness of the armour on a Tiger II turret mantlet.

Because it's still a niche market.  That is the whole point.  This lets the developer know what the market might look like.  I think its a great idea of have green light-type forums out there.  The market will have more influence on what a developer might spend his/her time on.  Its not perfect, but its easier than focus groups and better than trying to read a forum.

Well no ...  are you saying Japanese Anime Cosplay games are not in a niche ?  Or 8 bit graphics games about a man taking a shower with his son is mainstream ?

This is almost mainstream compared to these. I am saying in my view since the massive change in steam policy as to what games they put online (presumably to grab more market share and open a fresh stream of revenue ) the whole greenlight thing has became irrelevant precisely because Steam don't hold a position of being selective about their content anymore.
