Well looks like Rick discovered he still has a pecker this episode. Why carl is still standing is beyond me. And then daryl off's another one garanteeing negan will want his pound of flesh. Am i the the only one who thought "WTF Daryl!" in the season opener? This guy likes doing dumb shit to get other people killed. But on the posative side the episode has left some hope of the 2nd part of the season--being a cord cutter (haven't had cable in years) I prebuy my season on Amazon and I've really been regretting that purchase thus far but the 2nd half might save it---if for once they don't stick to the comic--which this episode pretty much did. I'd like the closing of the Chapter of negan to be assured- we don't need any returns.

Negan is going to be around for a while. If that extremely weak attempt on his life in the last episode didn't show that, nothing will. Which is ok with me because he's got some great lines. A little comic relief goes a long way here.

I'm positive I've seen all the episodes but what the hell happened to carol, she rocked as the hooded nemesis in that episode when she was killing all the bad guys as they attacked Alexandria and now she's crazy old lady in a cabin

If all the cat's hadn't been eaten by walkers (the only positive thing about the zombie apocalypse IMHO) Carol would have a cabin full of 'em. But I suspect the old Carol is still in there somewhere, waiting to bust a move on the Saviors.

My ten years of experience with cats has shown me that not only would they have survived the zombie apocalypse, they would have Rick and crew risking their lives to get them cat litter. And laughing at them while they did it.

Yeah carol's character turn is the most jarring. Now she's just a selfish old lady in a cabin. This really is where the plot gets weak. Having watched episode after pointless episode of wasted space we get this mid-season closer with so much condensed story it was so many epic moments lost. They did hardly anything with Daryl's escape--oh i'll just run past the guards! His escape could have filled a whole episode.  I thought the sinking through zombie lake was a touch of brilliance--it's amazing that after 7 seasons they can come up with new ways to present zombie danger--but every other story branch was so condensed so much more was lost. Probably the weakest was killing off some bottom tier cast members to give Rick and everyone now a reason to fight a bit of cheapness.

That said, I suspect she'll be in for the kill on the saviors. I'm pretty sure that she doesn't even know about Glenn and Abraham, yet.

That said, I suspect she'll be in for the kill on the saviors. I'm pretty sure that she doesn't even know about Glenn and Abraham, yet.

This is what I think will tip Carol back into the badass woman we've known and loved. Carol and Glen go back to the very start, I can see Glenn's death having a great effect on her passivity. Even so, I think she is sick of all the killing and death and I don't know that her story ends well.

Since the TV Carol is so different from the comic book Carol we can only guess how her role plays out. In the comic she never achieved baddass status and commited suicide long ago at the prison. Now she's just sitting selfishly in the cabin, provided for her, eating the food, provided for her not only not wanting to contribute but is even annoyed if someone stops by the say hi. We never got to see the conversation between her and the lion king when he stopped by--and I suspect that's going to play a part when they show that conversation---in fact we've seen little of Ezekial and the producers have said he's a huge part of season 7.

Season Final


As a season it's by far the weakest. Showing a 3.8 rating on Amazon. And I think that's a little too high. The show without Darabont has suffered and has some of the weakest writing of all the seasons. First it failed with Negan. Simply a one dimensional comic book villain with no depth. Daryl in a dark closet? We don't need to see 3 episodes of that and an uninteresting escape. way, way, way too much on Negan, His one-note, over the top sadism provides little and robs us of what could be interesting experiences-say with the Rick and Michonne love story- where is it? And those lost their tongue trash hoarders? That ridiculous process shot of their miles and miles of stuff? How come no one has managed to discover all that junk on their 10 day scavenging runs? Seems like they wouldn't be able to avoid it. And the Giant plot hole of them watching Rick swim through a hoard of zombies on a boat to get supplies but can't trust his ability until they throw him in with just one? WTF? And how does mankind devolve so fast they lost the ability to speak a language. Really?! or Really stupid writing?--take your pick and neither is a good outcome.

The best part of the second half of the season was so little Carl. I think the writers have done such awful things to the character it's best they stopped messing with it altogether.

The mid season closer and the season closer are really the only two watchable episodes. The rest can be summed up as the group's fighters turned to pansies and it takes 14 hours of boring fiction writing for them to find their balls again. No character development or really anything of importance happened except for Rick's new romance which was barely acknowledged.

Negan should have been dealt with by now but looks like we're forced to suffer more of the same. But they did manage to make us care a lot less for the few likable characters left in the series.
