Very interesting development in terms of power generation.
It's a long time frame, but fossil fuels do appear to be losing their dominance.
"Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess, and you don't find out until too late that he's been playing with two queens all along".  Terry Pratchett.

During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

Tallulah Bankhead: "I'll come and make love to you at five o'clock. If I'm late, start without me."

"When all other trusts fail, turn to Flashman." — Abraham Lincoln.

"I have enjoyed very warm relations with my two husbands."
"With your eyes closed?"
"That helped."  Lauren Bacall

Master Chiefs are sneaky, dastardly, and snarky miscreants who thrive on the tears of Ensigns and belly dancers.   Admiral Gerry Bogan.

Soon to be included in the new Samsung Galaxy phones. What could go wrong there?
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.

You just have to change out the political dissidents every 12 hours to keep the tread mills running optimally.
'Here at NASA we all pee the same color.'  Al Harrison from the movie Hidden Figures.

Staggerwing

Giant tank farms full of battery acid.

Hmmm... aught to do wonders for property values down hill from them.

Nothing really rocks and nothing really rolls and nothing's ever worth the cost...

"Don't you look at me that way..." -the Abyss

'When searching for a meaningful embrace, sometimes my self respect took second place' -Iggy Pop, Cry for Love

... this will go down on your permanent record... -the Violent Femmes, 'Kiss Off'-

"I'm not just anyone, I'm not just anyone-
I got my time machine, got my 'electronic dream!"
-Sonic Reducer, -Dead Boys

Another pipe dream for the tree huggers. Here's a hint...if your new thing is in...CHINA then you know it's there because Xi Jiping said do it...not because it's actually finanially feasible in an open market place.

Crash course. Tech that's alive gets more powerful as it gets cheaper....mostly digital. Dead tech stands still. It only gets more expensive. As many times as they've rebranded the battery...the actual tech hasn't changed since it powered a U-Boat in 1938. What was in that '57 chevy is EXACTLY what's in that Lexus- only more expensive....

Electronics use capacitors for a reason, storing and releasing energy via a battery would assure their failure---they even moved away from electrolitic capacitors because...well the shelf life garanteed that PSU or motherboard would fail. Now they stamp "solid state" for a reason...to assure you...the buyer...it'll last.

They certainly do need a new form of energy storage to make solar and windmills practical....but they need NEW tech...not DEAD tech. A test tub still sells...ask any musician....he likes the sound...but he pays upwards of $200 every couple years for new ones for his amp.....back when we went to Walgreens to buy new ones for the T.V. they were like 89 cents or so. But it's still a test tub...

Sure Glad they didn't stick to the CRT like they do with batteries....

This is just the first step. Wait until they build the flashlight to put that thing in. Or...... the GIANT Drum-Beating, Pink Rabbit of Death.  :o
