Have you considered the operational art of war in matrix?

Drunk posting at 9 am again, eh?

Just kidding, I like the game too.   What about the new Order of Battle series.  That thing has all sorts of DLC covering various WW2 theaters dropping.

OK, a brief interlude...

You might want to have a look at thishttp://www.matrixgames.com/store/370/World.War.II:.General.Commander, acctingman.  I played the demo and was intrigued by the way you could zoom seamlessly from map to looking at tanks and soldiers' junks!  It doesn't pretend to be deep or complex, but offers a strategy/tactics game with some 3D graphics.

FTFY, in accordance to thread policy.

I don't know if it's been kept up-to-date like the other mods, but I know Broken Crescent was long one of the more popular ones for Medieval 2.

I haven't been here that long, so excuse my noob-i-ism, but am I right in saying that most threads here start off serious and then slowly degenerate to toilet humor and childish banter?

Cause if so.......

:notworthy:
Not that slowly, actually.  It's actually somewhat surprising this thread made it all the way to the third page before derailing off onto its usual destination of wretchedness & villainy.  :P

Didn't parts of that get rolled up into another mega mod too?

So Total War Medieval 2 is the hot mom of gaming now?

Past her prime?  Still doable?

I suppose so!

I honestly don't know, as I never played Medieval 2 much (as Gus noted, I've remained a fan of the original Medieval Total War/Viking Invasion).  It wouldn't surprise me, however, as combining mods into mega-mods had already been a thing since Rome 1.

Broken Crescent is one of the best mods I've ever played for any game, especially if you enjoy Islamic history. A lot of work went into it and it shows. I still recommend. As far as it being rolled up into something bigger...I don't know. I don't think so.

I'm currently looking into reinstalling Stainless Steel 6.3/6.4 for Medieval 2: Kingdoms but am a little flummoxed at how to do it with the Steam copy of the game.

You have to make a copy of the exe and change it's name back to the original (Steam version changed that shit for some reason).

Quote

Since the Steam version of the whole game was changed some time ago (they got rid of the pesky gamelauncher and reworked the file structure) there is no "Kingdoms.exe"

    1. Go to the game dir
    x:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War
and create a doublet of the
    "medieval2.exe"

    2. Rename the doublet:
    " medieval2.exe --> kingdoms.exe"
This will trick the mod into working.

This should be the basics for installing and playing the Stainless Steel mod which, if not obvious, I highly recommend to try out.

Sir Slash

Yes, the game was much easier to mod in it's original form and there are still many mods for it at the "Total War Center" site. But the game's well past it's prime, especially in looks--- like me. But still very playable. I have to look for my CD when I want to play it which seems very strange now days.

^Wow that was quick...thanks Nef. I will perform this operation a little later.

So beyond what you posted, I am hoping the rest of the installation is the same...

BTW Slash my CD stopped working for M2TW...I think it did for a lot of others too.

Have been following this thread and I wanted to suggest Scherpunkt's game series, Middle East, Anglo German war, Russian German war, and the latest World War 2 Europe. WW2E It is a vast series of scenarios some not complete yet but Ron Dockal has been releasing them as he completes the Beta Testing for each scenario and campaign. Covers all the large and smaller battles in Europe, including East Front. Not to complex nor to large of a learning curve.
Here is a link to their website.

Well crap...none of the links over at TWC for Stainless Steel 6.3 work...I guess they're outdated. Can anyone recommend a working file download location for SS 6.3/6.4?

The mediafire links still seem to work.
