After looking at a lot of videos of the Beta I decided to buy it. So £50 later, started playing and it was just like any other Battlefield game, ok the game looks gorgeous, but decided it would be too much hours to be proficient in it.

In the end I got a refund, and decided to wait for Steam sales. For £5 more I bought the Withcher Game of the Year Edition, Fallout 4 and Xcom2 Digital Deluxe.

Well, Bayonet Jr hasn't played any of the other BFs, and he wanted BF1 for Xmas, so it's going under the tree.  Without anything else to compare it to, I think he'll probably be OK.

Got this and play with my son who wanted it really badly. It's surprisingly fun really. You don't get killed as fast as you do in star wars battlefront. But yes it is just a ww1 flavour as battlefield 1942 was as well.
Graphics are amazing. Gameplay is light... here are some things I learnt like the OP from BF1 about ww1 so far:

a) The British used captured A7V tanks
b) The standard German LMG was the lewis
c) Tanks had top speeds of 80mph
d) Flamethrower troops had impenetrable armour unless you hit the tank on his back
e) 90% of troops have automatic weapons
f) Medics can revive dead corpses
g) Troops wander off on their own for flanking manoeuvres with no regard for their own safety.

Over all it's what you would expect and lets face it. FPS and PC tech is not up to the challenge of simulating hundreds of riflemen charging machine guns.
Game has great atmosphere and is just a great feeling. I had to do the indiana jones thing. I stood on a MKIV tank and called out to my mate on a horse to come beside me.... indy!!! lol

This is my biggest problem with the game.  Hard to kill with bolt action and automatic single shot rifles.  You run out of bullets quickly with SMG and HMG because it takes so much bullets to kill someone.  I find the battles in Battlefront more organised.

But still fun.  And definitely more players playing this than the other title.

Yes. The only way I get a battlefront game is by switching to US servers usually. Not fun to have a bad ping.
Verdun can be the same. It has very small numbers online and also needs to sort itself out animation wise when it comes to syncing. If it did sort itself out I would probably play Verdun more.

Coincidentally, I just bought Verdun.  By the way, the Star Wars blasters are WW1/WW2 "Frankenstein" guns.

Be interested in your opinions of Verdun Jomni. The uniform upgrades for each squad are amazing. I still miss the Aussies with slouch hats, although realistically our blokes wore British Helmets at the front in the West.
The game is probably the best representation of ww1 in an FPS I have seen to date. It does not look half bad either. But their are a lot of problems with smoothness and animations depicting what you should actually be seeing. I die often from getting killed by people who have not even raised their weapons according to the animation.

Already fretting about it Nefaro. Because even though I cannot play it. Sheez it looks horrible.
When you look at what Verdun has done with a small team I would have hoped the RS2 Vietnam team would follow.

I kinda don't like the "clunkiness" of Verdun.  Reminds me of old school ARMA (Op Flashpoint).

I agree Jomni. As I said. Performance is an issue and the animations are not the best. But it is simply put the best ww1 FPS from a historical standpoint imho. I still enjoy a good whirl with it every now and then.
Especially in team vs AI waves mode.

Question about Battlefield1 though.... I see rifles at the bottom of the weapons and gadgets for the Medic, for instance the Lee Enfield. But when I go to customise soldier they are not their as options.

You have to spend credits to unlock them. Credits are earned when you level up.  Which screen are you looking at?  I'm away from my PC so I can't give details for now.

The weapons and gadgets screen under your character...NOT the customise soldier screen.
Scroll to the bottom and their are some rifles for each character.
