Hurricane Irma

Auburn University has been closed for Monday due to a Tropical Storm warning.  This means up to 50mph sustained winds and gusts to 70mph.  Plus the normal tornado spawn.

[It was not closed because our offensive line gave up 11 sacks to Clemson].

If Irma slips about 10 miles to the west, it won't hit anything until it rips through the Florida Panhandle and then onward to Alabama.

Although I'm at the end of a very long power line run, a guy who is on the Alabama Power repair crews lives across the street from me.  That is awesome since the last hurricane through Auburn knocked power out of this neighborhood for a full MONTH.  [I did not live here then].

Since all of the trees have had 15 years of growth since the last hurricane, if it comes through power could be out in the County for days, weeks, to a month depending on where you live.

The tornado spawns are totally random.

I just looked at google maps with the traffic setting on.  Looks like the roads are clear in Florida, which is good.  Hopefully no one gets caught in their car.

The Tampa Aquarium sent my cousin home. Not sure if that is better or worse. My aunt is a nervous wreck worrying about him :/

Their place is in the Saddlebunch Keys. It's about 1/5th the way from Key West to Marathon.

My wife's family had a condo in Key Colony Beach, right next to Marathon. We used to spend a month there at Christmas before they came over from England.

That whole stretch is in for an ass kicking...  :(

Gusting is now up to 75 miles per hour in the lower keys.  :(
