My P-51D

My "future" son-in-law bought me an Aifrix 1/72 P-51D Mustang.

I'm not too hot on 1/72 - especially fighters. On the one hand, there's very few pieces and they can be put together pretty speedily. On the other, they're just so small.

Anyway - progress so far.

Anyway - almost done. I'm going to dirty her up a bit. Don't ask me what's gone wrong with the undercarriage. I have no excuse except Airfix

IIRC, didn't the P-51 necessitate the design of a special 'cut down' version of the 50 Cal MG to fit inside the narrow wing? I seem to recall the guns also had to be laid on their side, instead of upright as on other US A/C.
