Just won my first battle in Ultimate General: Civil War...Dunker Church. Never heard of it before and I had it on the easiest setting [to learn] but I can see how this game can get very addicting. :dreamer:

Get's a lot tougher late war.. trying to keep your regiments full.

But it is a great game!

Just beat the Bunker Hill battle (as the Confederates)...again on the easiest setting. The AI here is formidable! Not sure if I will ever be ready to turn up the difficulty...

Just played two more battles - or parts of battles - Pickett's charge @ Gettysburg and Marye's Heights @ Fredericksburg, both as Confederates, and won both!

Marye's Heights was the biggest battle I've played so far...around 60,000 troops on each side.

It was amazing watching the ground go from smooth to cratered by infantry and artillery by the end, really well done.

I had the Gettysburg version sitting in my library forever. Your enthusiasm, Gus made me finally try it. Ended up buying the full version. Great game so far. Feel like Civil War Generals 2 meets Close Combat.

lol, Gus's 'Bunker Hill' comment, did make me go "Huh?". But then I thought, maybe there was a place called Bunker Hill down south as well.

BTW I really like the ability to play key points in the larger, more epic battles too.

It has the same campaign/role playing elements as CWG2 plus the RTS stylings of CC. I don't think I could explain CC but as someone who doesn't like RTS games, this one is pausable so it makes reacting and issuing orders manageable.
