Here's a link to the MP AAR I did for the game using one of the Beta versions.  I tried to write it in such a way it gave ideas on how some of the pieces of the game work.  The AAR is now on the public webpages:

With the diplomacy being so well articulated, this could be a great platform for a solitaire campaign game as the Byzantine empire, say starting around the time of Justinian and Belisarius.
"Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess, and you don't find out until too late that he's been playing with two queens all along".  Terry Pratchett.

During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

Tallulah Bankhead: "I'll come and make love to you at five o'clock. If I'm late, start without me."

"When all other trusts fail, turn to Flashman." — Abraham Lincoln.

"I have enjoyed very warm relations with my two husbands."
"With your eyes closed?"
"That helped."  Lauren Bacall

Master Chiefs are sneaky, dastardly, and snarky miscreants who thrive on the tears of Ensigns and belly dancers.   Admiral Gerry Bogan.

Quick Announcement :

The first issue of the celebrated "Papyrus Spysheet" , essential information and scurrillous gossip rag will be circulated one week from today....the day before the game releases.

Players will then have no excuse not to storm through the game having been fully informed as to diplomatic shenanigans that have been underway prior to game start

Editors note : Any relation between the contents of the Spysheet in issue 1 and the actual state of affairs in the game is entirely co-incidental : ;)

I respectfully forfeit this effort to multiplay. Better to say it now than when we are a ways in, but I have second thoughts about wether I can dedicate myself to this game in the pacing that it needs.
Thanks for setting it up and good luck to everyone. I hope you all have fun.

I respect your decision, but as a beta tester, I can tell you the MP games take about 10 minutes a turn-They really aren't a heavy lift in terms of time  Now, sending emails and PMs to human players adds a bit to that, but not much-maybe another 5 minutes or so every couple of turns.  depending on how the game is set up, there may be as much as 1 turn/day or as much as a turn every 28 days.  If you can't make your move in within that time limit, the AI moves for you, so none of the other players are inconvenienced.  I just came back from a 3 day vacation, and the AI did a credible job for me as Rome in a MP test game I'm playing.

Step 1: encourage other players to go after Epirus.

Step 2: watch them slay each other fighting over Epirus.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit.  :bd:

Here's a suggestion for when we do the MP game:  I would recommend  1 day  turn limits.  Here's my logic: With 16 players , someone will generally be on the road or otherwise unable to do a turn for within a 48 hour turn.  With a 24 hour time limit, the game will still move forward expeditiously, one turn every day, and the game will be completed in about 500 days.  With a 48 hour time period, given that one of the 16 players is likely unable to make a move, the game will still move forward, but the absence of a single player will limit everyone else to one move every 2 days, and the game will be completed in 1000 days.

In terms of  player time, the game is really very quick.  I just played 38 turns as Rome in the early game in 145 minutes.  Admittedly, I'm probably quicker than most, as I've been beta testing for awhile, and I'm very familiar with Rome.  Also, since I played straight through my turns take less time that a MP game would, as I'm not restarting the game for each move.  Still, it is very quick to do a turn.

Hi Tripoli

I have no problem with 24 hour turns but some might. In any case the turn goes ahead as soon as everyone submits their move so hopefully the turns will progress much quicker than once every 48 hours.

Also your speed of turn was presumably in single player.....the beta MP games I believe had a longer turnaround time than 48 hours didn't they ?

I would be more than happy to play in a 24 hour turnaround MP game in addition to this 48 hour one as well as a single player game but some players will not and I want to stick to the advertised maximum 48 hour turns (with the hope and expectation most turns will go much quicker) rather than risk several players pull out.

Hopefully you understand my logic 're this .

If you want to set up a fast MP game as well as this one though.......count me in 👍👍👍

All the best

You are truly wasted sitting in the desert bothering camels Jason with that kind of twisted thinking..... :notworthy:
