Jarhead, I have this book and it's pretty good:https://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Tanks-Armored-Fighting-Vehicles/dp/1571458069/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=encyclopedia+of+tanks+and+armored+fighting+vehicles&qid=1622830147&s=books&sr=1-4It isn't focused on just US and WW2, so it might lack the depth you're seeking. It reads sort of like a Janes publication. Might be worth having in your library regardless.I can send you a screenshot or two of a couple pages to show you what kind of info is in there; let me know.
This book might be of interest. An organizational history of US Armor in WWII. The price is right...free download.https://www.google.fr/books/edition/Mobility_Shock_and_Firepower/9XvfAAAAMAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=mobility,+shock+and+firepower&printsec=frontcover
