...because we all know you didn't play what you said you were going to play in the Friday thread.

I had aspirations to boot up Carrier Battles 4: Guadalcanal but I just didn't get to it.  I did, however, boot up Fleet Commander Pacific as expected.  I couldn't figure out how to play it without a glance at the manual, so I read the manual, then put on Netflix and bagged gaming the rest of the weekend.   :o

I'm back on a WW2 Pacific kick, though, so I have aspirations to play something along those lines this week.  I still have Warplan Pacific that's barely even been opened...

No wargaming at all for me this past weekend.  I got "press ganged" into being the chaperone for thirteen 9th grade boys on an overnight trip.  No one else in my church wanted to volunteer.  Now I know why.....  :timeout:

I ended up playing Distant Worlds 2. It's starting to grow on me. As stated in other threads that the pace is slow in the early pre-warp game. I really appreciate the slow pace as I slowly learn all the things. The game loop really works for me. The developers really did a great job in letting players play the parts that they want to play while the AI does the others. Other games would really benefit from learning this awesome mechanic.

The only thing that gets me is the ship models. I do love watching a good space battle! But those models! I want to scrap my eyes out when I see them up close. This is a truly amazing game with incredible depth and deepness with ship models that are so minimalistic and basic. I'm hoping for a future ship model DLC or some amazing modders that can add some really cool ship designs to the game.

^Oh man it's good. 

There is an overhauled UI that matches with the culture type of the nation you're playing.  There are new unit card portraits as well as general portraits.  Tech trees are now tailored to culture type.  So for example if you're playing as any of the Native America factions you can't research cannon foundries.  Instead your tech suits what the culture would have had available to them at the time.  It's quite fleshed out.

Unit models have been freshened up, both land and sea units. 
There is also a new event system that kind of reminds me of stuff you'd see in Crusader Kings.  You don't have to play with these random events turned on but if you do expect to play a more Total War meets Crusader Kings type game. 

I'm very happy with this mod.

Actually, i did play what i planned. My Rome campaign in Aggressors is still going well. However, another faction won the game in Imperiums. I starded a new game of Master of of Orion 4 with the Sakkras (my game of the week).
