Be nice to think that the first moon base, whenever that is, is named after him.
Maybe only we gamers would appreciate this, but in any space4x game I play, I've always named a planet or base Armstrong.

Never thought of that. Cool!

Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Yeah, that's pretty neat Steelie.  If it wouldn't come off as blatant copycatting, I'd now be tempted to do the same thing.

Sad news indeed.  :(  He was one of my first childhood heroes.  RIP Neil

The very first memory I have is watching the moon landing....it was an amazing era with amazing individuals like Armstrong. I'm glad he is getting the recognition he so rightly deserves!~

I don't know his position on it, but I have to imagine he was a bit disappointed that we didn't continue to support space exploration in the same manner that his generation did.

He was a pretty private person, but he did express disappointment in the decline in manned exploration. He was quite displeased when the recent plans to send US astronauts back to the moon were shelved.

It was really nice to see the press, tabloids and other exploiters pretty much leave him alone during his life.  He always seemed like such a humble guy, and I think thats what made him such a great man.

Copycatting is allowed, but if you're copying off my math paper, you're screwed....

Yeah, I usually have some ships, bases, and/or planets named after astronauts and sci-fi writers. When we finally get our creaky butts off this planet, I would hope those honors would go to some of these individuals in real life.

I was surprised that Neil was so old....but then again, I watched him step foot on the moon while viewing a black and white TV set my third grade teacher wheeled into the classroom.

QuoteHe and the other astronauts on that mission simultaneously kicked both physics and communism square in the junk by saying "fuck you, we're strapping ourselves into a giant missile, fucking Earth's orbit in the face, walking all over the moon like it's our bitch, penetrating it with Old Glory, then chucking deuces and deliberately crashing into the ocean like it's nbd."

If the above does not give you a raging patriotic boner, you're either dead, or just a lousy commie.

Sorry about the expletives in advance.

I've been going past Wapakoneta a lot lately traveling to and from customer sites.  His museum sits right along I-75.  I stopped today to see if there was anything out front.  Just a small memorial.

THis is bad picture of the front entrance.
