Combat mission is only PVP.  I'd love to see them add coop.  You could finally pull off the multi battalion scenario by delegating different taskforces to your buddies.

Quote from: Destraex on March 28, 2024, 04:51:06 PMA real shame as even if players do not play multiplayer a lot practise single player knowing that one day the opportunity to playnwith friends or against them is an option. That is usually my philosophy when buying games. I want to know their is something more at the end of the single player experience with it's often limited AI.

You have a lot of competition in this area of which most have multiplayer:
Warno
Combat mission
Broken arrow

Plus a tonne of operational level games that often have multi

I will stick to warno but know that I would probably like your game better if it had multiplayer coop.

There is also a large contingent of people that like this type of game and don't have any desire to have a multiplayer component.  Moreover, they lament the amount of developer time that has recently been devoted to multiplayer at the expense of the single player experience.

There are a lot of multiplayer wargames, but there is still a market for single player wargames.  It is a rare specimen, and often requires a large budget, to pull off both with one title.

Missed opportunity as far as I am concerned. I know I am in the minority on this forum when it comes to multiplayer and thus will be outgunned on this topic. But that's fine. I often lament the time spent developing for console and other games for single player. But for games like armored brigade... this game is one best served against or with a human player where possible. As for single player being rare.... it was the rule for wargames for a very long time. 1v1 being the only relief. Then we got more coop games and now we are still limited when it comes to pure wargames. It's rare with the more complicated wargames to get anything but 1v1 still.
What will you do when A.I. comes proper to play against? Now that would be something. It's coming. Nvidia already has a service for it as do many other startups.

Any close ups of the infantry or the wheels on the tanks move?
Is the engine physics based like cmx2 or stats based like steel division\warno?
Hoping for a cmx2 and warno replacement. But alas no multiplayer yet.

There's the Soviet faction trailer but it was recorded months ago and is quite obsolete by now.

In its core AB is closer to Steel Panthers than Combat Mission, so it's mainly data-driven.

I see. Tanks slide over the ground without wheels moving a little like close combat 3D. Still it still does the job I guess. Does the final version have moving wheels planned?

As for stats based that's fine in my book as long as flanking and armour penetration are still taken into account from all sides including the top.

I agree that some of the animations (or lack thereof) don't look very good or polished and definitely break immersion. However, if the conversion to a 3D battle space otherwise enhances the game overall from a strategic and/or tactical perspective, I can overlook those graphical issues.

How bad is it ?  Worse than CMx2 ?  I'll check youtube.  I'd agree, if the gameplay is great, some lack of graphical polish may be tolerated.  The dynamic campaign sounds great, and they are considering MP / Coop after release.

The main difference is the I would say from what I know so far simpler graphics and animation that are lacking things most 3d games have like moving wheels, lack of physics calculations and that the scale is larger than cmx2.

I have seen plenty of games say they are considering MP after release. If that is the case then may as well wait some years to see if it happens. Plus the MP they are considering is lesser than the game iself. They would move the main real time game back to turn based for multiplayer, again may as well be a lot of other games that do that job.

The niche for this game imho should be a more complex and advanced WARNO\broken arrow\regiments for those that want to take the next step in modern battlefield simulation.

Depends on what you consider the final version, but it won't happen in the few weeks we have before the release. Development is planned to go on for a long time. It may be good to know that this is not Unity, the rendering engine has been built from scratch during the last few years.

If you watched the gameplay video, you can see the hit messages.

AB1 databases should be compatible, and one of them is an incredible WW2 mod. The maps too are compatible, there's a Chechnya mod and its maps look awesome in 3D.

The main purpose of the 3D graphics is that the player can see terrain elevation much better.
