In the category of games that I should not even like, but actually love...

Our Adventurer Guild, a very nice, addictive old school fantasy RPG is wonderful for its straight-forward lack of complication or chrome.

The idea is that the player is running an adventurer's guild and has to manage teams going out on adventures. Think "Jagged Alliance" but for fantasy. Battles are turn-based tactical. Combat is pretty "old school" with initiative and specialized skills for the classes.

The interface and graphics are "retro" but also very crisp and functional. The game is not complicated, and that is its charm in a way. The kind of thing you can play after a long day at work...where you just want to relax.

The game is not perfect, however.

It can be talky (technically "texty")...sometimes going over-board (IMHO) with text-based dialog aimed at character development. Fortunately, the escape key lets you get past that...and straight to slaughtering goblins.

Also, after a while, some of the battles start to get "samey."

Anyway, for me, it definitely has that "just one more turn" attraction...
