One of the tracking cookies Steam put on your computer tried to protect itself, but don't worry I fixed it.  ;D

Wounded aliens are easier to capture than healthy ones.  Try to go after the one that only have 1 or 2 hitpoints left.

Kushan -

At what difficulty level are you playing?  I've got 20 or so missions under my belt playing Normal/Iron Man and the pacing has not been a problem, other than I don't have the resources for engineering to keep pace with research.

I'm playing on Normal.

I was actually enjoying the challenged level until I ran into the flying saucer drones (see below). They tear through my squad like its nothing, 1-hit dead, 1-hit dead...rinse and repeat. They appeared in the first mission after I captured the alien for the main story mission. Little frustrating watching my operatives get killed one by one without doing any damage.
I've tried everything I can think of: Heavies with the Heat round ability, rockets, grenades, laser rifles...everything just bounces off them or misses. Could be I'm just getting really bad dice rolls but I'd like to think my operatives could at least hit something that close. Is this X-Coms version of a Kobayashi Maru scenario?

There's a Perk that gives special ammo that's a huge bonus vs robots.  Maybe try that?  I just saw the perk but I'm not far enough yet to see one of those saucer dudes.

Under Heavy Abilities

Heat Ammo (Lieutenant)
Double damage against robotic foes. Extremely useful in the late-game.

Yay, X-Com seems to have started the finishing touches of the Pre-Loading. Soon I too shall enjoy this! :)

EDIT: Frak! This is just a several gigs patch... several more hours to go :(

JudgeDredd

Mine is all pre-loaded - still says 3 hours until unlock.

I'm not staying up to midnight to get any time in - I'll fire it up tomorrow. It'll be a welcome break from AJE - which I have played exclusively since the weekend!
